It's Funny yet wrong!

Its funny how when people ask others where they're from and the answer would be as simple as U.A.E, Qatar, Jordan or any country within the Middle East or African region, They would have this huge "Question MarK" over their heads and face expressions LOL. But then when you try to explain to them in a much shorter understandable word like "Dubai, Doha, Amman, or Africa" they would go like oohhhhh yes yes!! like they got it and you could just see it in their faces that they really don't... So you explain in a longer version and tell them that U.A.E stands for United Arab Emirates, Abu-Dhabi is the capital and Dubai is just a city within U.A.E, Doha is the Capital of Qatar, Amman is not OMAN!! and NO Africa is not ONE BIG country LOL! and then try giving them examples like, You don't say you're from Penang, New York, or Casablanca, But you say You're from Malaysia, The US "America", or Morocco... -True Story-

  1. Errr yeah, I apologize for being one of these people. Unfortunately, geography and world issues are not my strongest suit. I only know about U.A.E when I was researching about the construction boom that was going on (Burj Kahlifah and what not). Maybe it's the influence of Hollywood which insists that any country that isn't America is evil.

P.S. In another feat of stupidity, I only knew about South Africa when the world cup was going on. Once again, I apologise for my ignorance =P. Cross culture studies are so important!
